christmas eve.

This Christmas Eve might have been the best yet. Although I'm feeling a little on the sicker side, I didn't let it get to me tonight when we went to my friend's house for dinner:

So much food. So good. And that yule log dessert was the greatest! My best friend and her family are basically the best cooks. And mushroom meringue? Honestly... I still can't get over how cute it was.

note to self: I really don't think things can get much better when you're spending quality time with family and your friends (just wish my sister was here too). Definitely in the holiday spirit this year and I can't wait for tomorrow morning!

be comfortable, creature.

feeling particularly optimistic tonight (though not sure what to do with it since it's almost 2 am). But this is a very good thing right now. My parents surprised me with a christmas tree in my room this year which was super thoughtful and I'm pretty freaking happy to be reunited with my best friend Sri:

note to self: I spent the night cooking Peruvian food with Sri and her family (some things just never change) and then watched the Grinch with a few close friends and we all fell asleep. This night was exactly what I needed. I think I might be super comfortable with where I am in life right now. Finally!

skate away.

Its getting freaking cold over here in rexburg. Like, 28 degrees today is relatively warm. But today's my last day here for the semester and i've been craving to skate, so we all went to the rink in Idaho Falls:

note to self: this semester has been amazing. Really had no idea what to expect living away from home (not to mention almost in the middle of nowhere). But I love this little town and call me crazy, but I like the cold weather. and campus. and maybe there's a boy i like here too. haha. alright seattle: see you in less than 24 hours!

yes, please.

I've been pretty good this year Santa! Promise. Fur coat, Doc Martens, RAEN sunglasses? Yes, please. Got this idea from my sister-in-law and I might just have to post wish-lists regularly...

kind of reminiscing of rain. and heat.

Stumbling upon really old photos today, kind of reminiscing about last summer. I seriouszzly miss hanging out with my best friend (which by the way, I'm coming home in about a week and could NOT be more excited). Pretty sure last summer was my favorite... full of hikes and outdoor concerts. sigh. This is beyond the point. Amongst my summer photos were these two layouts that I created and haven't yet journaled about:

journaling says: "even though it feels like it rains almost 365 days a year, it makes the sunny days that much better. i love the way the rain feels on my hair and the smell it leaves on the pavement. i love the way it makes the grass bright green and the trees vibrant colors. and i love the sound the rain makes when it taps my window. i like how the rain gives me an excuse to stay inside and watch feel good movies while sipping hot cocoa. im excited to see what the weather will be like when i get to school in idaho, and im positive it wont be as rainy as seattle, but i might actually miss the rain".

no journaling here. But ohmagosh how I wish I was back in Hawaii right now. Or at least somewhere that's guaranteed above 20 degrees. Yesterday morning it was -3 degrees out! The weather here is weird, I can't even remember the last time it rained. Its always sunny, just fetching cold (ha, picked up that word since ive been here its embarrassing).

note to self: definitely going to have to come back to school for winter semester with most of my scrapbooking stuff. I'm kind of scared for the upcoming cold weather for the next few months (as if -3 degrees isn't cold enough), but this will for sure give me an incentive to stay inside and scrapbook more...

saturday night reading.

Was really in the mood for some good books today so a few friends and I decided to venture into Idaho Falls at a used book store. And it felt so good. I haven't read a book just for fun since I've been at school, and now that the semester is almost at an end, I'm finding a little bit more time to do things other than school work.

I picked up a classic read: Catcher in the Rye. I read it in junior high and loved it, so I kind of want to read it again. Normally I never read books twice (for some reason I can't explain), but this book is an exception. I also picked up this book called The Road Less Traveled; all about spiritual growth in an age of anxiety. I've read a few pages so far and its pretty enlightening.

note to self: so it's a saturday night, and really i only feel like snuggling in a quilt and reading on the couch. maybe watch a couple of christmas movies. Holden Caulfield here I come.
