this is what i sleep about.

I don't even know why, but I had a dream last night where I created a print that said "yes please" with a super simple silk screen effect, and then proceded to hang it on my super boring walls. I've been finding myself having dreams about creating really random things, but I never do anything about it. Lately PowerPoint and Picnik understand me better than people... so I decided to actually recreate what I saw in my sleep:

No idea why I had this dream and I'm still trying to figure out why it says "yes please"... but it's kind of fun working on projects i have dreams about. Next step, print it out and put it on my wall. Yes, please.

-walking to class in the snow
-attending devotional at school
-exploring rexburg... or rather, "rexploring"
-giving plasma (because honestly, it's kind of fun)

its an explosions in the sky kind of day.

skirt- blue bird, shirt- borrowed, belt- anthropologie, shoes- freepeople

Yesss a new header and profile. Thanks Paige! Still working on the buttons at top, but I think this is a pretty good start. Just kind of wanted a fresh look for the new year, you know? Seriously enjoyed the snow for the first hour it snowed last night, but the "Rexburg shuffle" might have to come in full force tomorrow morning when I walk to class. For now its back to endless chem, bio, and religion homework while listening to Explosions in the Sky....

diy flower crown.

I've kind of been craving flower crowns lately... clearly I can't wait for Spring to come around. Let me show you how:

let's make this as simple as possible:
1. create a circle with floral wire that fits just right on your head (i tripled the wire for extra strength).
2. cut your first bloom and wrap it anywhere on your crown with a piece floral wire, about 3 inches long.
3. continue wrapping and layering flowers onto your crown.
4. once you have the desired amount of flowers on the crown, wrap the exposed wires with floral tape.
5. done. YES, it's that easy. less that 10 dollars, less than a half hour.

three day weekend.

Went on a super last minute trip to Utah with one of my roommates this weekend and it was way fun. Didn't spend any money, brought only one or two outfits, and just spend good quality time with family (mostly relaxing and watching movies, which is exactly what I needed). For some reason I can't seem to get a good picture of myself lately, but I did snap this photo of some chocolate oranges my grandma gave us in celebration of my cousin's birthday:

happy birthday maren!

pom pom tutorial.

You asked for it! I noticed a couple of people last post mentioned my pom pom garland in my room. Just 7 ridiculously easy steps to make a yarn ball of goodness:

1. purchase a clover pom pom maker.
2. wrap your yarn from one edge of the arch of the pom maker to the other, until it looks like a fat noodle.
3. close the arch and repeat the same steps on the other side.
4. after both arches are covered, insert your scissors into the middle ridge and cut along the entire circle (on both sides).
5. Tie off your pom pom by slipping a piece of yarn along the middle, pull it into a tight knot.
6. open your arch and pull your pom maker apart.
7. Trim your pom pom if necessary making sure to leave the long piece of yarn you used to tie it together in order to attach it to a garland.

back in the burg.

I'm back in the burg (rexburg that is) and I feel pretty fantastic. Even though it's pushing the negatives, the sun is shining bright and there's been no clouds. So this is a good sign. I have yet to take pictures outside and I'm stalling on homework, so I thought I'd take pictures of my room over here:

So that's that. My room is pretty small, but I'm just glad I have a space of my own to relax... it's kind of my little sanctuary. Hopefully i'll purchase some cool prints over time to put on my super sad empty white walls. haha.

p.s. I'm currently working on re-designing my blog for the new year... stay tuned in the next couple of weeks!

its gonna be a good year.

These past two weeks have gone by way too fast. It felt really awesome to be back home in my own bed, hang out with my best friends, and work a little bit at a craft store (just wish I didn't have to get this sinus infection). For New Years my friends and I went to Seattle and watched fireworks from the top of a pretty tall building:

I'm just glad I got to spend the last bit of 2011 with the people I like the most (ha, besides my family). But now I'm in Wallace, Idaho for the next few days as a final mini vacation:

note to self: still can't get over this quaint little town! I love it here. Tomorrow were going skiing, which I haven't done in forever, and probably relaxing by the fire all night. I'm pretty happy I'm spending time with my family right now too. And also maybe I'm ready to go back to Rexburg. Ohh it's gonna be a good year.
